Start with your experience

Choose the guide that matches where you are now. Each route explains what to expect, what to share before confirmation and which live dives may suit you.

Before you get on the boat

The details that change a dive day

Certification is only one part of the plan. Recent experience, comfort, equipment, conditions and the objective of the dive all shape the right decision.

01

Before you join the boat

Daily diving is for certified divers, but the card alone does not describe your current comfort. Share your agency and level, total logged dives, last dive date and any rental sizes before confirmation.

  • Bring your certification card and logbook or digital record.
  • A long break may mean a refresher or a calm check dive first.
  • Confirm equipment sizes and special requests before departure day.

How the sites and groups are chosen

Hurghada boat routes are operational decisions, not a fixed sightseeing timetable. The captain and dive team balance wind, current, visibility, boat traffic, certification and recent experience before choosing the safest useful plan.

  • A requested reef is a preference, not a guarantee.
  • Divers can be separated into groups with different profiles.
  • Multi-day plans aim for variety when conditions allow.

What a well-planned dive day feels like

Expect equipment setup, a site briefing, buddy check, the first guided dive, a proper surface interval and a second briefing for another reef. Follow your computer and the agreed plan even when another group follows a different profile.

  • Hydrate and avoid alcohol before and after diving.
  • Tell the guide about equalisation, buoyancy or air-consumption concerns.
  • Leave an appropriate surface interval before flying after your final dive day.

What happens before you descend

A first dive should begin slowly. You meet the equipment, learn breathing and hand signals, practise equalising and understand how to stop the experience before entering deeper water.

  • Ask questions during the briefing; there is no test.
  • Breathe normally and never hold your breath.
  • Descend only when you can equalise comfortably.

Safety, comfort and medical screening

The maximum depth is a limit, not a goal. The instructor can keep the dive shallower, pause or end it. Every participant completes a medical questionnaire, and some answers require a physician's clearance before diving.

  • Minimum age and supervision limits apply.
  • Do not hide medication or a relevant health condition.
  • You may stop at any time without pressure to continue.

06

Intro dive or full course?

An intro dive lets you experience scuba under direct supervision but does not issue a certification. Choose an Open Water course when your goal is to learn skills, complete training dives and earn a recognised entry-level qualification.

  • Intro: one supervised experience with no independent-diving qualification.
  • Open Water: theory, skills, training dives and assessment.
  • A non-diving companion may prefer a snorkeling or boat-day option.

07

Certification is only the starting point

An advanced card does not automatically make every deeper, night or wreck plan suitable. Recent buoyancy, gas awareness, controlled ascents and comfort in the expected conditions matter just as much.

  • State when and where you last dived.
  • A calm check dive is useful after a break or with unfamiliar equipment.
  • The guide may set a more conservative profile than your card limit.

Deep, night and wreck are different decisions

Each environment adds a different task load. Night diving changes communication and orientation; deeper profiles increase gas and decompression considerations; wreck penetration adds an overhead environment and requires specific training and equipment.

  • A wreck sighting from outside is not the same as penetration.
  • Depth should serve a dive objective, never be the objective itself.
  • Special routes depend on qualifications, logistics and conditions.

How to request a serious dive plan

Send copies or clear details of relevant certifications, total dives, experience in the requested environment, last dive, equipment setup and goal. The team can then say what is realistic instead of selling a route first and checking later.

  • Name the wreck, depth or skill you actually want.
  • Mention sidemount, camera or gas requirements before the date.
  • Keep an alternative plan for weather-dependent routes.

Dive sites are matched, not promised

These are useful examples around Hurghada. The final route depends on wind, current, visibility, boat traffic and the experience of the group.

Clear answers

Questions divers ask before Hurghada

Do I need a diving certificate?

Yes. Daily fun dives are for certified divers. Beginners should choose the supervised intro-diving option.

Can I request a particular reef?

You can request one, but the final route is confirmed according to weather, sea conditions and the group.

Can I dive if I have never tried before?

Yes. The intro option is built for first-time divers and includes briefing and direct supervision.

Will I receive a diving certificate?

No. An intro dive is not a certification course. Choose the Open Water course for an entry-level certification.

Does Open Water qualify me for every trip?

No. Each trip has its own certification, experience and depth requirements.

Are wreck trips guaranteed every day?

No. Only live bookable products are confirmed; routing also depends on conditions and operational planning.
